Alexander Leckie, 10th of Leckie; bc 1567; d SEP 1601; m Euphemia Maxwell (bc 1571).  Euphemia was the daughter of George Maxwell, of Newark and Marion Cunningham. 

He was murdered by Alexander Lindsay, of Dunrod on behalf of Sir James Maxwell of Calderwood.  Both men were related by marriage.  The fatal shot being fired out of a window of farm house near Hagton Hill, near Glasgow.  The murder was not resolved until his son reached majority by 1622

Grizel was the daughter of Sir John Murray of Touchadam and Poimase.  The lands of Leckie were reunited (Wester Leckie and Easter Leckie) by royal chapter dated 14 MAR 1617 to Alexander Leckey and his future spouse Grizzel Murray.  A charter dated 9 JUL 1632, by the Laird to John Cowane, Dean of Guild, Stirling for Leckie was issued. The Laird of Leckie had regained the lands of Leckie as shown by another charter dated 5 MAR  1642.  He likely received the lands of Dunrod as settlement for the death of his father by Alexander Lindsay of Dunron.

Notes for JOHN OF CROY-LECKIE:

It is intresting to note before we move to Ireland, that in 1677 John Leckie of Croy-Leckie married Margaret MacGregor,sister of Robert Roy Mac Gregor of Inversmaid, making the Leckies a sept and under the protection of Clan Gregor. The Leckies lived in an area where there was much cattle rustling and hearding from the highland to the lowlands.The Mac Gregors were deeply involved and no doubt the Leckies were also. The Leckies appear to have always been religious but in those days cattle rustling was a honorable proffession -- if they didn't get caught. The Leckie lands were just south of the River Forth - seven miles west of Sterling and about fifteen miles east of Loch Lomand and the family was scattered between Leckie and Lach Lomand. The north side of the River Forth, from Sterling to Loch Lomand at that time was one big swamp or bog -- except for a small area close to Leckie where they could pass. It was a passage for troops as well -- so they must have had to be on guard at all times.
